CONGRATULATIONS! The Volgograd “KAUSTIK” is 55!

The personnel of all the facilities managed by the Moscow group of companies called “NIKOCHEM” are joyfully celebrating now the abovementioned jubilee. The Volgograd “KAUSTIK” that manufactured its first metrical tons of the commercial insecticidal product called “Chlorophos” for the Soviet agricultural consumers as long ago as in July 1967 has been still keeping leadership position in this country’s chemical industry i. e., for a longer time span than the last 50 years of the plant’s history. As long ago as in the year 1972 there was put for the first time in this country into operation on the said plant’s premises a production line for manufacturing the PVC resin with the use of the Japan-made equipment and at the assistance of the Japanese specialists. There was begun a production process for manufacturing of the palletized caustic soda at the KAUSTIK’s industrialized site in 1982, owing to which KAUSTIK has begun to be and still is the only domestic manufacturer of the product in the Russian Federation. There was also put in operation on the KAUSTIK's premises in 2015 a production line for manufacturing such modern, highly demanded in various spheres of the humane activities, bishofite based chemical products as the magnesium both oxide and hydroxide.

As of now JSC “KAUSTIK” makes up for such a leader in the Russian chemical Industry that ranks first in the industry in the output figures for the caustic soda, chlorinated paraffin wax, synthetic hydrochloric acid, and commodity chlorine. KAUSTIK also comes second in manufacturing the sodium hypochlorite as well as the water purification agents for the swimming pools. KAUSTIK comes third in the industry in the PVC production output. The facility is also ranged among the biggest and most successful exporters in the Volgograd Region.

In applying its Development Strategy hinged on creation of the new production lines based on its own existing infrastructure JSC “KAUSTIK” carries out projects aimed at considerably deeper processing the underlying commodity materials such as the water solutions of bishofite (magnesium chloride) and the table salt (sodium chloride). The commissioning into the commercial operation of a new production line two years ago for manufacturing the table salt of grade “Extra” makes up for rather good an example of the results achieved going on along that line of business development. The line’s design capacity amounts to 80000 metric tons of the product a year.

There is still going on a systematic work at KAUSTIK on the high-tec production line that was put in operation in 2015 for manufacturing magnesium hydroxide and the magnesium oxide of a very high purity there. The aforementioned magnesium both hydroxide and oxide while falling within the realm of the so called Special Chemicals go in bigger and bigger demand year by year in various spheres of activity. Suffice it to say to prove this thesis that magnesium hydroxide is nowadays used in manufacturing plastics and polymers of almost all kinds including those used in food processing industry, pharmacy, in production of additives to the lubricants, and even the children’s toys. In addition to the abovesaid it is also worth noticing that magnesium hydroxide is widely considered one of the best smoke suppression additives.

The today’s KAUSTIK makes up for a 400 hectares’ worth of the working area where the personnel of 42 plants are working in shifts round-the-clock, seven days a week. As a backbone asset managed by Moscow Group of Companies “NIKOCHEM” KAUSTIK manufactures in excess of 200 (Sic!) types of the end-products. KAUSTIK is shipping daily a seven hundred thousand tons’ worth of the end-products to its clients amounting to an excess of 1000 companies residing in Russia and abroad.

The steady KAUSTIK’s supremacy in technologies coupled with the routine production of a few unique chemical products have made it possible for the plant to develop successfully while keeping the several-thousand-strong skillful personnel stable.
